February 2026 — The representative of the Global Finance Committee of the Association of Innovation Technology Finance and Marketing (AITFM) recently visited North Al Batinah Governorate (capital: Sohar) and held a formal meeting with H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah.
The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the economic, logistics, and investment development of North Al Batinah Governorate. The province serves as Oman’s core industrial and port region, encompassing key infrastructure such as Sohar Port and Sohar Free Zone. Governor Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi has consistently emphasised Sohar’s strategic role as “Oman’s logistics backbone” and gateway for East-West trade, while frequently hosting major international events including the Sohar Investment Forum and Sohar Festival to position the province as a regional investment hotspot.
The meeting particularly explored how to leverage Hong Kong’s international financial expertise to assist North Al Batinah in attracting global capital, developing fintech applications, enhancing investment frameworks, and improving project financing efficiency, thereby further strengthening Sohar’s position as a logistics and trade hub in the Middle East and East Africa region.
The visit aims to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Oman by integrating Chinese innovative technology strengths with Hong Kong’s mature financial expertise, jointly supporting economic diversification and sustainable development goals under Oman Vision 2040. The Global Finance Committee will continue to follow up on cooperation opportunities to facilitate the implementation of more high-value projects in Sohar.
